5 October 2026 - New map search

Written by Charles Bozik

Using the new map search

The new search bar sits at the top-left of the map and replaces the vertical Search panel. One field covers vessels, locations, players and products. Origin and destination are set with From and To chips, and the map and results panel update as you build the query. Watch the video below for a walkthrough or read below for more information.

Searching for an entity

Start typing in the bar. You can search vessels, locations, players and products. Suggestions will appear as you type, labelled by their respective type:

  • Locations – continent, country, port

  • Installations – with a live status indicator

  • Vessels – with IMO and DWT

  • Players

  • Products – product or grade level (e.g. Gasoil, Gasoil 0.1)

Use the filter row below the bar (All, Vessels, Players, Products, Locations, From, To) to narrow suggestions to just one type.

Building a flow query - an example

  1. Type a location and hover over it in the suggestion list. To and From buttons appear on the row.

  2. Click From to set the origin. A location (ex. From: Singapore) is added to the bar, the map filters to matching vessels and installations, and the results panel opens on the right (ex. titled Singapore exports).

  3. Type a second location and click To to set the destination. The panel title updates (ex. Singapore to China).

  4. Click switch direction to swap origin and destination (China to Singapore). This control appears once a location is set.

  5. Add a product the same way – (ex. select Gasoil) and the query becomes Singapore to China: Gasoil.

Click ⊗ at the right of the bar to clear the query and return to the full map.

Reading the results

The results panel has Voyages and Trades tabs, a Forecast toggle and a sort control (default: load date). Each row shows the vessel, product, load and discharge locations, dates, quantities and source (Port, AIS, Market). Only vessels and installations matching the query stay visible on the map.

Vessel and installation counts

The counter at the bottom-left of the map still shows how many vessels and installations are currently displayed. You can still expand it to open an alphabetical list with Vessels and Installations tabs.

Temporarily switching back to vertical search

You can click Switch to vertical search below the search bar to reopen the previous Search panel.
