You may recall in April of this year we released improvements to the computation methodology for Freight Metrics that allows freight users to dive into average speed and distance metrics by vessel state within the web application.

We are pleased to now release a roll out of the improved methodology that includes the web application, Excel Add-In, and API for your extensive analysis.

As per what is available in the web application, freight users will now be able to dissect Average Speed and Average Distance by vessel state within the Excel add-in and API.

In addition, Ton-miles and Ton-days calculations have been refreshed across the web app, Excel Add-In, and API to reflect the new improvements. Within the web app for Ton-miles and Ton-days, search results will be returning neatly aggregated numbers by vessels, meaning that each vessel appears only as one row in the selected period.

To access these new metrics within the Excel Add-In freight users will need to tick a new checkbox titled Use New Endpoint that will enable the new methodology and therefore the new metrics.

This checkbox is not active by default. Users can see in the below where to find this new checkbox, highlighted in yellow.

Within the API, freight users can access the endpoints that use this new methodology via the "alt" endpoints, listed below:

To provide a seamless transition, the previous methodology will remain available via Excel Add-In and API until it is deprecated in January 2023.
