This article explains some of the most popular parameters and fields of the trades function, which is available via API and excel add-in.

Vessel parameter

Search all the trades for a specific vessel/s including those trades involving a STS.

  • The vessel doing the load appears under the field Vessel

  • When a vessel operates as a daughter vessel, you will find the vessel under columns Vessel Name 2, Vessel Name 3 or Vessel Name 4. Learn more about tracking STS here.

Dates parameter and explanation of fields

Filter the trades you would like to display by entering a start and end date. Specifically, you will be able to enter the range of trades that started between the 2 dates. Trades are automatically ordered by Date (origin).

Output: there are many useful dates returned as shown below. The most relevant for most users are Date (origin) & Date (destination). This article describes these fields at length.

Date columns

Description

Date (origin)

Start date of the trade. It can be either actual or estimated.

Date (destination)

End date of the trade. It can be either actual or estimated.

Eta (origin)

Estimated Time of Arrival of the vessel at the load Port Call. Null if the load is forecasted

Start (origin)

Start of the loading operation (load Port Call). Null when the vessel hasn't reach the port.

End (origin)

End of the loading operation (load Port Call). Null when the vessel hasn't departed the port of origin.

Eta (destination)

Estimated Time of Arrival of the vessel at the discharge Port Call.

Start (destination)

Start of the discharge operation (discharge Port Call). Null when the vessel didn’t reach the port.

End (destination)

End of the discharge operation (discharge Port Call). Null until the vessel leaves the port.

Forecasted origin ETA

Shows the loading ETA for forecasted trades i.e. modelled by Kpler.

Forecasted ETA

Shows the discharge ETA for forecasted trades i.e. modelled by Kpler.

Date Start STS 1

Displays the start date of a STS (first leg of the STS operation).

Date End STS 1

Displays the end date of a STS (first leg of the STS operation).

Date Start STS 2

Displays the start date of a STS (second leg of the STS operation).

Date End STS 2

Displays the end date of a STS (second leg of the STS operation).

Date Start STS 3

Displays the start date of a STS (third leg of the STS operation).

Date End STS 3

Displays the end date of a STS (third leg of the STS operation).

Note that:

  • all date/times are in UTC

  • a trade begins with the end of the origin Port Call, which is End (origin), and finishes when the vessel reaches the berth at the destination Port Call - Start (destination) - or when she leaves the port in case the installation is unknown.

  • Further information on STS tracking and relevant fields can be found here.

Sellers, Buyers & Charterers

When available, we display buyer, seller and charterer information.

The above is a view from the terminal showing buyers, charterers and unknown buyers (at the time of writing).

  • The example above shows a cargo that was initially sold by ADNOC. The charterer of Sks Dee is Ampol, the charterer of Chang Hang Xing Yun is Nanjing Tanker Corporation, and there are possible buyers in Adelaide.

  • The information about the initial seller (including potential ones) and final buyer (including potential ones) can be found in the columns Seller (origin) and Buyer (destination).

  • Detailed information on buyers, sellers and charterers can be found in the columns containing Link as shown below.

Link #

Link # seller name

Link # buyer name

1

Seller (origin)

Charterer 1

2

Charterer 1

Buyer (destination) OR Charterer 2 in case of STS

3

Charterer 2

Buyer (destination) OR Charterer 3 in case of STS

4

Charterer 3

Buyer (destination) OR Charterer 4 in case of STS

5

Charterer 4

Buyer (destination)

The example above is displayed as follows:

ADNOC

Ampol

2

3

List of potential buyers

Note that:

  • If one these cells is empty, it means that we do not have the information.

  • In the example above, at the time of writing we didn't have specific information of the final buyer as the vessel wasn't signalling for a specific terminal (it only showed Adelaide). As a result, our algorithms were still unable to determine the buyer at the destination.

Past, ongoing and future trades

Use the Trade status parameter/filter to filter by status:

  • Delivered: a trade has been realized

  • In Transit: the cargo has departed the loading port i.e. ongoing trade.

  • Loading: the cargo is currently being loaded.

  • Scheduled: a future trade and the cargo has not been loaded yet.
