1 September 2026 Kpler Chartering: Send open positions and fixtures to your Terminal via WhatsApp

New functionality for Kpler Chartering users

Written by Isabella Koustas Murcia

What this is

You can now send or forward open position and fixtures information straight to a dedicated WhatsApp number, and it will be parsed and added to your tonnage and fixtures list automatically, the same way our email parser and smart-fill already work, just from WhatsApp instead of your inbox or the platform.

This is not a chatbot. It doesn't answer questions or hold a conversation, it extracts vessel, location, and date information from what you send it and turns that into an open position and fixtures record. Anything you send that isn't an open position or a fixture (a question, a general message) won't be processed.

How it works

Step 1 — Verify your WhatsApp number

  1. Login to Kpler terminal and go to the left side menu → CharteringTonnage list

  2. Find Manage open positions on the top left side and click the right button (stars)

  3. Click the WhatsApp button and enter your mobile number

  4. You'll receive a verification code via WhatsApp under Kpler, enter it to confirm

  5. Once verified, your integration status will show as ready to use

Step 2 — Send or forward an open position or fixture

Message the Kpler Chartering on WhatsApp with the vessel, open location, and open date, in your own words, the way you'd already write it to a colleague or broker.

For example:

Claus - open ARA 30.06. Paul E. - open WCUK 28.06. Anton - CII rating B - open WMED 25.06.

You can also forward an existing WhatsApp message you've received, or attach a PDF, Excel, PNG, or JPG file (a position list, a circular, a screenshot).

Plain text messages can be up to 1,600 characters, long enough for a full positions list in one go.

Step 3 — Check your tonnage or fixtures list

Within moments, the bot confirms what it saved:

Successfully saved 8 open positions:

  1. Claus, Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp, 30/06/2026

  2. Paul E, West Coast UK, 28/06/2026 ...

The vessels now appear as new rows in your relevant tonnage list, tagged with Position source: "User" so it's always clear which entries came in via WhatsApp/manual input versus AIS or email.

What's supported today

  • Open positions, fully supported

  • Fixtures, fully supported

  • File types: PDF, Excel (XLS/XLSX), PNG, JPG

  • Plain text up to 1,600 characters per message

What it doesn't do

  • It doesn't hold a conversation or answer questions, it only extracts open position and fixtures data from what you send

  • It doesn't process cargo orders

  • It doesn't verify or endorse the accuracy of user-submitted positions, like any user-added entry, it's tagged accordingly and kept distinct from AIS- and email-sourced data

FAQ

Can I ask the bot questions, like "what vessels are open in the US Gulf?

No. It only parses open position and fixtures information you send, it can't answer questions or look anything up for you. For that, use your tonnage lists in the platform directly.

What if it doesn't pick up a vessel correctly?

Occasional parsing errors can happen, particularly with unusual date formats or incomplete details. If a position doesn't come through as expected, add it manually via Manage open positions, or resend with the vessel name, location, and date written out clearly.

Is this the same as the email parser?

It uses the same underlying parsing engine, it's simply another channel to get positions in, alongside email, manual entry, and smart-fill.

Who can use this?

Currently available to Chartering users with WhatsApp integration enabled. If you don't see it reach out to your account manager.

Does sending test messages affect the platform's data?

No, user-added positions are never surfaced to other clients as verified market data.
