What is the Cargo list?

In the Kpler Chartering product, the Cargo list is a centralized, real-time workspace that empowers chartering professionals to manage and monitor market cargoes across dry bulk and liquids segments. It eliminates manual data entry and fragmented workflows by giving brokers, owners, and charterers one reliable source of truth for cargo opportunities that is live, filterable, and actionable.

Whether you’re matching cargoes with available tonnage or analyzing regional demand, the cargo list enables faster, smarter decision-making.

Feature description

Real-time cargo feed from the email parsing

The Cargo list provides a live, centralized view of cargo opportunities. This feed is automatically populated using our parsing technology, which extracts key information from incoming emails with high accuracy.

As emails arrive— from several and diverse counterparties—the system identifies and structures relevant cargo details into the following fields:

  • Cargo Type: Specifies the commodity being transported (e.g., crude oil, lng, coal, wheat). This helps users filter or segment cargoes by product category.

  • Order Date: Indicates the date the cargo offer was originally received or circulated. Useful for tracking the recency of opportunities and managing time-sensitive fixtures.

  • Volume/Quantity: Refers to the amount of cargo available, typically expressed in metric tons. Critical for matching with appropriate vessel capacity.

  • Laycan Window: Denotes the time period during which the vessel is expected to arrive at the load port. This defines the loading availability window for planning and scheduling.

  • Load/Discharge Ports: Specifies the origin (load) and destination (discharge) ports for the cargo. These locations are essential for routing, cost estimation, and vessel suitability.

  • Charter Type: Captures the contract structure.

    • Time Charter (TC) – the vessel is hired for a set period.

    • Voyage Charter – the vessel is hired for a specific trip or shipment.

  • Charterer: The entity offering or controlling the cargo. Useful for internal tracking, client segmentation, and commercial follow-up.

  • Commercial Status: Describes the current status of the cargo order.

    • Available – open for negotiation or fixing

    • On Subs – under negotiation, subject to final terms

    • Fully Fixed – concluded and no longer available

    • Cancelled – withdrawn or no longer active

  • Comment: A free-text field allowing brokers or users to add extra context—e.g., special instructions, options, or clarifications not captured in structured fields.

  • Source: Indicates whether the cargo entry originated from.

    • Email Parsing – parsed and auto-extracted from emails

    • User Edit – manually entered or modified within the platform

Data management for users

Whether you're adding a new lead or refining existing cargo data, the cargo list enables core actions directly from the UI with minimal clicks.

  • Add: Manually input orders with essential fields (commodity, quantity, ports, laycan, contract type, commercial status).

  • Edit: Update entries globally received by email or manually inputted.

  • Delete: Remove obsolete or duplicate entries.

Cargo Sub-Lists

Segment your focus markets or client portfolios with sub-lists. You can track:

  • Regional activity (e.g., AG-India, NCSA-Europe)

  • Strategic clients

  • Niche grades or routes

Data Filtering

Quickly filter the cargo data by key parameters like:

  • Commodity

  • Quantity

  • Origin/Destination

  • Charter type

  • Laycan window

These filters are editable in real time, and support list personalization at the team level.

Access to the original email thread

Stay aligned with the full cargo story by accessing the original email thread linked to each parsed entry. This transparency ensures quick verification and informed decision-making.

Search for similar cargoes

By understanding the context behind each cargo, Kpler enables you to explore similar flows, analyze historical trades and identify patterns. Kpler cargo intelligence data helps the user to extract actionable insights and go beyond the list to make smarter chartering decisions.

Integrated with Kpler Chartering ecosystem

The Cargo List is seamlessly integrated with:

  • Tonnage List: Match cargoes to open vessels.

  • Email Parsing & Inbox: Directly push parsed leads into the list.

  • Live Map: View vessel positions relative to cargo availability.

  • Voyage Calculator: Assess profitability before quoting.

  • Fixtures Tracker: Close the loop from inquiry to confirmation.
