1/ Verified accuracy & control
When automated data feeds are moving fast, you need to stay in control. These three features give you the tools to verify what comes in and protect what you've curated.
Direct source access:
Every fixture and position in your list is now linked to its original email source. Click once to open the raw email and verify context without leaving your workspace. Any attachments included in the original email - such as recap sheets, fixture notes, vessel survey, or market reports - are also accessible and can be downloaded directly from the preview.
What it replaces: switching between your email client and Chartering to hunt down the original message.
How to use it: click the source icon on any fixture or position row to open the original email inline.
Open position locks:
Protect your data during active negotiations. When you lock a vessel position, incoming automated updates are paused and your curated data stays intact until you choose to unlock it.
Lock a position: click the lock icon on any open position row during an active negotiation.
Unlock when ready: unlocking resumes automated updates from that point forward as no historical data is lost.
Improved deduplication:
When the same cargo is reported by multiple market sources, Kpler Chartering now automatically collapses those entries into a single clean record so your list reflects the market, not the noise.
Fewer duplicates: updates from multiple sources are merged into one entry based on refined matching logic.
Audit trail preserved: the original sources remain accessible for reference if needed.
Why it matters: You can trust what you see. Whether you're verifying a fixture, protecting a negotiation, or scanning the market, these tools put the accuracy of your data back in your hands.
2/ Accelerated workflows
Speed matters when markets move. These two features reduce the steps between receiving intelligence and having it structured and ready to act on.
In-terminal parsing:
You no longer need a formal email to trigger parsing. Paste raw text from any channel - WhatsApp, Ice Chat, instant messages, market circulars, broker reports - directly into the terminal and the "open position editor" smart fill feature structures it for you immediately.
Supported inputs: any plain-text fixture or position report, regardless of format or source.
How to use it: open the Terminal, paste your raw text, and review the auto-structured output before saving.
Use case: A broker or shipowner sends you a position list via WhatsApp. Copy and paste it straight into the terminal with no reformatting or no manual entry.
Custom fleet shortcuts:
Building a Custom Fleet used to require multiple steps across different parts of the product. You can now create and save Custom Fleets directly from the Tonnage List in the same flow, without switching context.
How to use it: select vessels from the Tonnage List, right-click or use the action menu, and save them as a named Custom Fleet.
Where it appears: your saved fleet is immediately available as a filter across the Tonnage List, Cargo List, and Fixtures List.
Why it matters: Less switching, faster setup. Your workspace stays focused on the market, not on navigating the product.
3/ Intelligent market context
The following features surface the right information at the right moment so that the opportunities and context come to you, rather than requiring you to go looking.
Cargo/vessel matching:
When you open a cargo order, Kpler now automatically surfaces vessels that match based on size, position, and availability. You see relevant tonnage immediately, without running a separate search.
How it works: matching runs automatically based on cargo specifications, open position data, and vessel proximity.
Where it appears: a matching panel opens alongside the cargo order when relevant tonnage is identified.
Use case: You open an open cargo in the Cargo List. A panel immediately shows you the three closest matching vessels with their open positions and ETAs.
Editable last 3 cargoes:
For every vessel in your workspace, you can now view and edit its most recent cargo history. When your private intel is incomplete, Kpler market data fills in the gaps automatically.
Kpler data as a baseline: where private intel is missing, Kpler's verified market data populates the field.
Your edits take priority: any update you make overrides the Kpler baseline and is private to your organization.
Where to find it: accessible from the vessel detail panel in the Tonnage List and open position editor.
Advanced filtering:
We've expanded filtering controls across the board to give you more precise, always-current views of the market. Three areas have been updated:
Rolling day filters: instead of fixed date ranges, set rolling windows (e.g. next 7 days) so your view stays relevant as time moves.
Open Dates / Laycan (-2/+5): apply a tolerance window around open dates and laycan to surface near-matches, not just exact fits.
Received at controls: filter by when a fixture or position was received, with finer granularity to focus on the freshest intel.
Why it matters: Your filters now work the way you think about the market in relative terms, with tolerance for real-world timing. The result is a live view that's always commercially relevant, without manual refresh.
All features described in this article are now live in your Kpler Chartering workspace. For a personal walkthrough, schedule a demo call with your account team.
