We are excited to introduce Custom Fleets, a new personalized feature that allows you to create, manage, and monitor custom vessel fleets directly within the Kpler terminal, seamlessly connected to Kpler's analytics suite.

Introducing Custom Fleets

Custom fleets is a customization feature accessible from your account page, enabling you to define your own groups of vessels and track them across Kpler's analytics modules, starting with the Live Map, Flows, Freight Analytics and Compliance.

Whether you want to monitor a competitor's fleet, track vessels linked to a specific trade, or keep a close eye on high-risk tonnage, My custom fleets gives you the flexibility to focus only on what matters most to your workflow.

You can build a fleet by manually selecting vessels or uploading a list of IMO numbers, name it, and immediately start visualizing activity across the terminal.

What are the benefits

Personalized experience

Build and manage your own vessel fleets, tailored to your specific workflows and business needs. Adapt your views to focus on the signals that are most relevant to you, rather than navigating the entire global fleet.

Market context that matters

Quickly surface key movements, behaviors, and trends across your selected vessels. Turn complex data into clear, actionable signals that support faster and more informed operational and strategic decisions.

Instant insights

Leverage Kpler analytics to instantly monitor fleet performance and track competitor activity with clarity and speed. Identify changes, anomalies, and emerging patterns as soon as they happen.

How does it work

Setting up your fleet

  1. Navigate to your Account page in the Kpler terminal.

  2. Select Custom Fleets from the left-hand menu.

  3. Click + Create fleet, give your fleet a name, and add vessels either by searching individually or uploading a list of IMO numbers.

  4. Save your fleet and it will immediately become available as a filter across supported analytics modules.

Where can you use my fleet?

Once created, your custom fleets can be applied as a vessel filter in:

  • Map โ€“ visualize the real-time positions and movements of your fleet

  • Kpler Flows โ€“ analyze cargo flows and trade patterns for your selected vessels

  • Freight Analytics โ€“ track freight activity, vessel utilization, and performance metrics

  • Compliance - Monitor illegal activities and cut through our risk datasets in seconds

Who are Custom Fleets for?

Charterers / Freight traders / Owners

Monitor vessel utilization and competitor tonnage to anticipate capacity availability and optimize chartering decisions. Example: Track Aframax vessels on the USGโ€“UKC route to time your next fixture ahead of a rate move.

Analysts

Build focused fleets around dark vessels, sanctioned entities, or tariff-exposed tonnage to monitor compliance risks and market behavior. Example: Follow high-risk vessels across key corridors to identify evasion patterns as sanctions evolve.

Commodity traders / FFA desks

Follow fleets tied to your trade flows or counterparties to anticipate cargo availability and price movements. Example: Track Capesize vessels loading for major miners to get ahead of iron ore supply signals.

Banks / Hedge funds / Equity analysts

Monitor publicly traded shipping companies' fleets to assess operational performance and exposure in real time. Example: Track a listed tanker owner's ton-mile output weekly to sharpen your earnings model.
