At Kpler, we are committed to providing our users with the most accurate and detailed data to empower your market analysis and decision-making processes. As part of this commitment, we are excited to introduce a significant update to our Vegoils/Biofuels commodity tree, specifically focusing on improving the feedstock and Lauric oil classifications.
What's New?
Effective July 21st, we have made enhancements to our feedstock and lauric oil classification to ease data retrieval. The new classifications include:
Addition of “Lauric oils” category within vegetable oils
Sorting feedstock in “Bio Feedstocks” category
Regrouping other biomass liquid products in “Other bios”
This update provides a more coherent classification of the vegoils & feedstock markets, enabling deeper and more precise analysis.
Understanding the classifications
Lauric Oils: Grouping Lauric oils in a single category avoids confusion with the former “Palm Oil” category and aligns with custom classification codes.
Bio Feedstocks: Defined as feedstocks used for producing biofuels. Acid Oils will be excluded from this category in Q4 2025.
Other Bios: Defined as other biomass-based liquids that don’t fit coherently within other classifications. Some oleo-chemicals are included in this category; these will be grouped in a dedicated category in Q4 2025.
Detailed breakdown of the new Categories
See below for a detailed breakdown of the new tree:
How can this update benefit you?
The new vegoils/feedstocks classifications offer:
Enhanced Granularity: A detailed layer of analysis for targeted market assessments, forecasting, and strategy development.
Improved Queries: Users can now easily distinguish feedstocks from the former category “Other Oils & Fats”. Creation of Lauric Oils category brings more coherence to vegoils classification by aligning with custom classification.
Precise Insights: Greater clarity in analyzing export and consumption patterns, such as differences in Lauric Oils vs other vegetable oils.
With these new classifications, users can expect a more detailed layer of analysis, allowing for more targeted market assessments and forecasting. Whether you are analyzing supply-demand dynamics, price trends, or preparing market reports, these new categories will provide a more refined data set to support your conclusions and strategies.
