19 August 2026 - LNG Inventories: New Features

Written by Maxwell Kahn

What's new

  1. Import/export views for LNG inventories (terminal only) — same logic as capacity and utilisation: you can now toggle inventories displayed based on installation type. For export installations, flows data is shown above inventories and for import installations, the layout is unchanged.

  2. China LNG inventories (all channels — Terminal, API, Excel add-in, Snowflake) — new country coverage added to both Inventories and Inventories by Country, under the Eastern Asia zone.

Where to find it

  • Import/export toggle: Terminal > LNG Installation Metrics > Inventories.

  • China data: Terminal > LNG Installation Metrics > Inventories / Inventories by Country > Eastern Asia > LNG China; also available via API, Excel add-in, Snowflake.

Why it matters

  • The import/export toggle brings inventories in line with how capacity and utilisation already work, so you get a consistent view logic across the whole LNG dataset instead of having to reinterpret the layout per metric.

  • For export installations specifically, users typically read flows first to understand what's driving inventory levels — flows are the leading signal, inventories are the resulting state. Surfacing flows above inventories matches that reading order instead of making users scroll past the state to get to the cause.

  • China is one of the largest LNG importers globally — adding it closes a real gap in Eastern Asia coverage and strengthens regional balance analysis.
