We have now launched LNG/Gas S&D in the Kpler terminal, enabling LNG and natural gas professionals to analyse supply and demand balances across 30+ countries and regions, with historical, present-day, and forecasted data up to 18 months ahead.
The product combines two linked datasets: a global LNG balance built on near-real-time flow data, and full production, consumption (by sector), and storage breakdowns for key gas economies to show how LNG fits into each country's broader gas picture.
Getting started
After logging into the Kpler terminal, navigate to the Supply & Demand tab on the lefthand menu and select LNG/Gas. You will arrive at the Balances tab, which displays the global LNG balance by default.
At the top of the page, you will notice several controls/filters:
LNG/Gas toggle — switch between the LNG view and the natural gas view for balances or metrics depending on your area of focus.
Locations — use to filter by country or region; when no location is selected for LNG, the view defaults to a global picture split, and when no location is selected for Gas, the view defaults to the EU-27. Selecting a specific country or region will narrow the display to the data relevant to that market. You can also combine multiple countries or regions to see their aggregated balance data.
Split — change how the data is segmented; for LNG, split by total, continent, subcontinent, country, LNG region, LNG sub-region, and for Gas, split by total, continent, or country.
Date range — adjust the historical lookback and forward forecast window. The dashed line on the chart indicates where the historical data ends and the forecast begins. You can choose a pre-set range, either 6m back/18m ahead, 1y back/1y ahead, 3y back/1y ahead, or all data available, or you can select a specific set of months to exactly match your analysis.
YoY toggle — enable year-on-year comparison to quickly identify how current supply and demand levels compare to the same period last year.
Last update — displayed in the top right corner, showing when the data was last refreshed.
Balances
The Balances tab provides an aggregated view of the global LNG and natural gas supply and demand picture, displayed as a stacked bar chart with a balance line overlay.
Reading the balance chart and table
The stacked bar chart shows supply broken down based on the selected controls/filters, with the option in the top right of the chart to toggle between a supply or demand view. Depending on the 'Apply split to' selection, the demand or supply will be reflected in grey, with the demand on the bottom and the supply on top. The orange line represents the net balance, and when the YoY toggle is switched on, the line represents the balance change.
Below the bar chart, the table similarly groups the data on a monthly basis, making it easy to track how the balance evolves month by month. The columns headed in darker grey indicate that the data is forecasted, with all prior months showing actual balance figures. You can group the table by Metrics or Zones, and toggle between Supply, Demand, and Storage views using the controls above the table. Table figures are expressed in metric tonnes (Mt).
Metrics
The Metrics tab allows you to explore individual components of the LNG and natural gas balance in greater detail, using the same location, splits (including installation-level for LNG supply), and date range parameters available in the Balances tab.
Select Metrics in the upper navigation to switch to this view, then use the Metrics dropdown to choose the specific variable you want to analyse, Supply, Demand, or Storage (split between Storage Power and Storage Non-power).

Reading the metrics charts
Each metric displays two charts:
The main chart — shows monthly data for your selected location, split, metrics, and date range, with the forecast period indicated by a dashed line. Can be toggled between a bar chart or line chart per the icon in the top right.
The seasonal chart — displays historical annual data alongside the current year, the 2027 forecast, a five-year average and a five-year range. This allows you to assess how current levels and forecasts compare to seasonal norms. You can select or deselect individual years using the legend to customise your view.
For Gas, both charts can be displayed in bcm (billion cubic metres) or bcfd (billion cubic feet per day) using the switch to the top right, next to the YoY toggle. For LNG, the charts are displayed in bcm only.

A note on the data
Historical and near-real-time data is built on Kpler's proprietary flow data.
Forecast data is produced by Kpler's research team and updated monthly.
