Kpler is introducing a new upgrade to the Voyage Calculator, delivering more precise voyage cost estimates by distinguishing fuel consumption between loaded and ballast legs.
What's New?
With the "Calculate Costs" feature enabled, users can now take advantage of several key enhancements:
Leg-specific vessel states: Define whether a vessel is loaded or in ballast for each leg of the itinerary.
State-based fuel settings: Configure distinct fuel consumption rates for loaded and ballast legs.
More accurate cost calculations: Fuel consumption costs now reflect the vessel’s state across the full voyage.
Improved layout: Cargo details have been moved to a dedicated section for easier access and clearer workflow.
Below, you’ll see the newly added State field in the itinerary, allowing users to specify whether each leg is loaded or ballast:
And here, the updated fuel configuration section lets you define fuel consumption separately for loaded and ballast days, across different fuel types:
