We are excited to announce the launch of the Dry Outages Endpoint, a powerful new feature providing key information on global outages at ports and installations across a variety of dry bulk products.

This feature, designed by our market analysts, enables users to navigate disruptions more effectively, minimizing impact on their operations and optimizing their planning schedules in a dynamic environment.

Empowering Smarter Planning

With the Dry Outages Endpoint, you’ll have the tools to:

  • Mitigate the impact of disruptions by identifying alternative docking ports or installations.

  • Optimize planning schedules to maintain operational efficiency.

  • Stay informed with up-to-date information on both planned and unexpected events.

This is just the beginning. We are committed to enhancing the Dry Outages Endpoint by adding more commodities and expanding geographic coverage.

Commodities and coverage

The Dry Outages Endpoint currently focuses, for now, on the key dry bulk commodities, including:

  • Coal

  • Iron Ore

  • Grains/Oilseeds

Geographically, the initial coverage includes Australia, with some data from Brazil, South Africa, and other key regions.

Definition & methodology

We define a “dry outage” as any temporary shutdown at a port or installation, whether due to adverse weather, maintenance, or other operational challenges.

Outages are categorized into two types:

  • Planned Outages: Derived from port line-ups and market sources, providing advanced notice for users.

  • Unplanned Outages: Sudden disruptions caused by unforeseen events, such as cyclones or strikes, updated on an ad-hoc basis to ensure real-time responsiveness.

FAQ

Q: Why do I not see any weather updates on the Outage table?

A: Normal or unusual weather conditions will not be recorded in the Outage table unless it specifically has an impact to the port/installation which causes it to close temporarily. This outage table is not to display any poor weather conditions.
