We have just released a powerful new feature in the Kpler platform, specifically for our LNG Flows customers.

What’s New?

This latest update introduces a split by LNG Trade Type in the frontend, allowing users to quickly and intuitively navigate through six distinct categories of LNG trades:

  • Spot: Short-term transactions, typically completed quickly.

  • Contract: Trades tied to longer-term agreements.

  • Portfolio: Trades associated with a portfolio of assets or deals.

  • Flexible: Transactions offering flexibility in delivery or terms.

  • Group: Aggregated trade deals by larger entities or consortia.

  • Tender: Trades resulting from formal bidding processes.

How This Benefits You

This feature gives you direct access to trade data, allowing you to differentiate between various types of LNG transactions with ease. Previously, this level of detail was available only via our Trade Endpoint, where users would rely on the First/Last Trade Link Type for exports and imports. Now, it’s integrated directly into the frontend, making analysis more straightforward and intuitive.

With the ability to quickly split and filter trades, you'll gain greater clarity on market trends and can make more informed decisions—whether you're tracking short-term spot deals or managing long-term contract trades.

Key Use Case

This provides a macro view on the exposure of individual countries to the spot market.
We know that portfolio players spend a lot of time estimating how much countries/players will tap into the spot market and develop trading strategies based on those views. This info is not available anywhere so this feature provides a huge step forward in providing this type of visibility for our customers.
